We have a lot going on for the next couple of weeks!
First of all, the World Neighbors Association is busily planning the 27th International Fiesta which will be on Saturday, April 1, 2017, at the MSU Drill Field from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. For many years our Mission Committee has staffed a display table where we give away helium balloons to the kids and other items like flashlights, key chains, pens, etc. with church logo on it to the adult participants. The International Fiesta is a great fun and educational event with international food for purchase and live entertainment from various countries, as well as games and inflatables for the children. We need volunteers who would pick up the helium tank from the church and bring it to the Drill Field by about 9:45 a,m. Also, we need folks who will fill, tie and pass out the balloons starting at 10 a.m. This booth gets very busy so we need at least four folks to man it for about two hours. We usually stop passing out balloons about noon. It would be great if we had enough Methodist people come out to spend a half hour each helping with the balloons and then have time to enjoy the Fiesta food and entertainment. We also need someone to return the helium tank to the church after the Fiesta. Please contact Jean Walrath Ferguson at firstname.lastname@example.org or 662-312-0245, if you are able to help. This is a wonderful opportunity to meet people and make friends from around the world as we learn about their culture and share ours. Regards, Jean

CHURCH-WIDE LENTEN STUDY
Our church-wide Lenten Study for this year is A Disciple’s Heart by Jim Harnish. This is a follow-up study to our Disciple’s Path study of a few years ago.
This study will include daily Bible readings and a study workbook, along with weekly group gatherings. The purpose of the study is to help us grow in our Christian walk. A key Methodist theme since the time of John Wesley is that Christians should grow in love and faith throughout their lives. This study follows early Methodist traditions of Bible study and small group accountability to teach us the practices through which we grow as disciples of Christ.
There will be studies on Wednesday night, Sunday evening, and Tuesday morning (with the possibility of adding a few more if there is interest). The books are in the office. The Daily Workbook is $9. The Companion Reader is $7. Each person will need their own Daily Workbook, but a couple or family could share the Companion Reader. As always, do not let the cost of the books deter you from participating.
The introductory sessions will begin February 22. We look forward to sharing this powerful study with you.
